‘At the Water’s Edge’ is named after and inspired by an original photograph of the same name by E.S. Curtis (1910), one of many striking and memorable images he created during his illustrious career. A modern interpretation, I’ve imagined a quiet camp at daybreak channeling a peaceful family gathered under a serene sky. With a rippling reflection in the foreground, this painting is a journey of quiet contemplation, filled with a sense of wonder and respect for the vast beauty of the northern plains and the people who (still) call it home.
